This topic is very generic and have a very similar name with the topic "Configure RMAN".
The best thing to study here is all the persistent RMAN configurations that you can set up and their values:
- Default Device for Backups: Disk or SBT
- Default Type for Backups: Backup Sets or Copies
- Channels
- Control File and Server Parameter File Autobackups
- Backup Retention Policy
- Backup Optimization
- Archived Redo Log Deletion Policy
- Snapshot Control File Location
- etc
You must also know all the syntax, and the RMAN error mensage is a very good place to get it if you typo.
Also, try to understand very well the theory and practical differences of:
- Backup Set
- Backup Piece
- Multiplexed Backup Set
- Level of Multiplexing
- Multisection Backup
- etc
You must also need to know how to combine and the consequences of using:
- MAXSETSIZE
- MAXPIECESIZE
- FILESPERSET
- SECTION SIZE
- MAXOPENFILES
- etc
I've written an article about these differences is available here.

Did you have the same that some options like specify MAXOPENFILEs for channels or multiple location copies for backup are only possible in EM/DBConsole by clicking Edit RMAN script ?
