OCM 11g Preparation - Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure

So, finally here we start the grid control! I won't teach you here how to install grid control as you can find 266k results in less than 0.5 seconds using Google.

There are several ways of doing so and you must be prepared to perform all of them:

  • runInstaller using GUI (preferable).
  • runInstaller using CLI and response file. Don't forget the postinstall steps.
  • Cloning from another installation.
  • Configure your GRID (using RSP or GUI) after installation.
  • Add Node / Remove Node.

Practice also the prereqs like:

  • Create grid user and groups.
  • Install oracleasm RPMs
  • Setup oracleasm and create a disk.

How did I prepare myself for this topic? Install node A, clone into B, configure both from B, delete B, add B, delete A, deconfig B, config to Stand-Alone Server on B, etc
