Grid control along with data guard are within my favorite topics. So here you must know how to install grid infrastructure in ways you are not used to (runInstaller interface).
There are several ways of installing and you must be prepared to perform all of them:
- runInstaller using GUI (preferable and fastest).
- runInstaller using CLI and response file. Don’t forget the postinstall steps.
- Cloning from another installation.
- Configure your GRID (using RSP or GUI) after installation.
- Add Node / Remove Node (using command line or GUI).
- Convert hub <> leaf nodes.
Practice also the prereqs like:
- Configure a DNS and DHCP server so you can have your GNS working.
- Create grid user and groups.
- Install oracleasm RPMs
- Setup oracleasm and create a disk.
Don't forget that now we are in 12c, so Flex Clusters must flow in your mind and the differences between Leaf and Hub nodes. Add and Remove different type of nodes multiple times.

Hi Rodrigo Jorge
We can install GNS without DHCP server.
Thanks and best regards,
Author
True, though I never tried without. Anyway, is always good to play with all scenarios.
